Smoothies are my go-to when I’m hungry and don’t have time to prepare a meal. They are also great on the go once I bought some mason jars and special lids to hold straws.
I don’t usually buy smoothies because they are so frigging expensive and I always feel like I could have made the same at home, but I had the best tasting smoothie at the Big Carrot Juice Bar a couple of weeks ago–salted caramel deliciousness. I thought I would recreate it with a protein boost and it turned out great.
Salted Caramel Protein Smoothie
- 1 cup unsweetened almond milk
- 1 banana
- 1.5 tbsp peanut butter
- 1 tsp maca powder
- 1 scoop vanilla protein powder
- pinch of salt
- ice cubes
Blend all ingredients in a blender and sip away! yum.
When I run out of breakfast ideas for Baby Boy, I default to making a smoothie with whatever I have in the freezer/fridge. And this one was a hit! If you’ve never tried avocado in a smoothie, give it a shot. It gives the smoothie a creamy silky texture, without tasting the avocado. The pineapple takes over. A little taste of summer in the middle of winter.
- 2 cups frozen pineapple chunks
- 2 cups coconut water
- 1 small avocado
- 1/3 cup coconut milk
- 3 dates
Place all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. Enjoy!
It’s been hectic over here. Baby Boy is sick with a cold, and got the Mr and myself sick as well. The poor little guy can barely breathe when he’s sleeping on his back. If only they knew how to blow their nose at 8 months…
So instead of Smoothie Saturday, it’s Smoothie Sunday this week 🙂 And what better way to start the morning after a no-sleep week than with some green tea! Matcha green tea powder has some beneficial antioxidant properties and is a great way to change up your smoothies. Leave me a comment and let me know how you like it.
